On the Threshold of New Generation Journalism: We Will Be the Voice of the Future

The story of young journalism students who came together in a small but extremely dynamic class at the university begins right in the middle of the changing media world. The digital revolution has pushed the traditional boundaries of journalism and each of us is looking for new ways to keep up with this change. Our pens have turned into digital screens, our voice recorders have now settled into our mobile phones and we have started to keep the pulse of the news on social media.

As a student journalist, each of the discussions in class is like a door opening to the journalism of the future. We talk about how technology is pushing the boundaries, but without forgetting how important ethics are. On the one hand, we feel like we have to stay small in the shadow of big media organizations, but on the other hand, we realize that we are in the golden age of independent journalism.

One day, a highly charged discussion breaks out in class. “What is the future of journalism?” our professor asks. Opinions differ: some of us defend the importance of creating content on platforms like YouTube, while others still defend the value of printed newspapers. But we all agree on one thing: Storytelling will never die.

In the meantime, group projects begin to be created. Each student focuses on their own area of expertise: Some of us are talented in political analysis, while others want to make a splash in environmental news. While discussing how existing in the digital world can make a column more effective than ever, we do not forget that we need to keep the spirit of the old masters alive. As the new generation of journalism students, we know that no technology can erase the power of the pen.

This story may be a reflection of the struggle of young journalists to report accurate news and maintain ethical rules, which are the essence of journalism, while coping with digital transformation.
